Summary

Former, possibly univallate hillslope fort, now probably destroyed by quarrying, located on NW-facing slope promontory of Backwell Hill above Yeo River to N. Discovered from the air and investigated on the ground in 1933 as triangular area with on two sides a stone bank and outer ditch visible in 1935, with possible remains of entrance as slight depression on SE. By 1956 quarrying resulted in only part of E bank remaining, but by 1962 nothing visible to field investigator. It is possible that some rampart may remain, but no details. Now disused quarry, scrub and built up. Minimal investigations, undated.
