Summary

Located 310m to the SW of Twizel Smithy and to the N of Twizel Bridge, a small D-shaped enclosure lying above a meander in the River Till in a location that offers extensive views in both directions. D-shaped in plan with the straight side comprising a single ditch on the SW and two ditches 10m apart forming the arc on the NE and SE separated by 10m. Rather than defences, however, this configuration may be the result of the insertion of the inner enclosure into a larger oval enclosure. The area enclosed by the inner measures 45m by 35m (0.14ha). It has an E-facing entrance aligned through both circuits. The site is not recorded on OS mapping, minimal investigations, undated.
