Summary

This coastal promontory is situated at 'Leamcangher Point' immediately N of 'Donegal Point' between Ballard Bay and Farrihy Bay. Marked as 'Leim Chaite' on the second edition OS six-inch map, it projects NW from the mainland at an altitude of 23m OD. The seaward end is traversed by a series of natural gullies and entrenchments extending obliquely across its axis from NNW to SSE, but there are possible traces of earthen banks extending across the headland from N to S, and there is a deep cleft where the head of a large sea cave has cut back into the cliff-edge on the N; whether these banks are any more than old field boundaries is unknown (SH).
