Summary

This coastal promontory is situated on the E side of Clare Island in Clew Bay, off the W coast of Co. Mayo. It is not recorded as an entrenched headland on any edition of the OS six-inch maps. Satellite imagery show a minor triangular promontory projecting N from the cliff-line at an altitude of 11m OD. It has probably been identified from aerial photographs, but probably as a result of the misinterpretation of natural features, since there is no evidence of any enclosing works on any satellite imagery.
