This possible coastal promontory, known as 'Doonagail', is situated on the N side of Rathlin Island, with a razor-backed neck projecting N from the Island into the sea. Steep sided and narrow promontory E.E Evans field notes depict two lines of earthen banks running in an E-W direction across the top where the it opened a little beyond the tortuous neck, and also a circular area. A subsequent visit by the Archaeological Survey of Northern Ireland could find no trace of these features and concluded this is probably no more than a natural promontory.
