Summary

This fort occupies the summit of a spur on the S flank of Dalwhat Hill. Slightly D-shaped on plan, the featureless interior measures about 82m from NW to SE on the axis of the chord by 45m transversely (0.3ha). Twin ramparts with a medial ditch can be traced all round the circuit, including along the steep NE flank, while on the NW and SW there is an additional outer ditch with a counterscarp bank. On all sides the ramparts are reduced to scarps, typically about 1.5m high but on the NE up to 2m. To either side of the entrance, which is midway along the NE side, the terminals of the inner rampart turn slightly inwards.
