Summary

Cropmarks have revealed the site of a double-ditched fort or fortified settlement on the SE shoulder of a low hill NNE of Holydean Castle. Roughly oval on plan, its featureless interior measures at least 70m from ENE to WSW by 60m transversely (0.32ha). The two ditches, which are only intermittently visible round the circuit, are set about 8m apart and range from 2m to 4m in breadth. There is one clearly defined entrance on the ENE, and possibly a second on the WSW.
