Faint cropmarks have revealed part of an enclosure with two concentric ditches situated at the point where the slope dropping down NW from Easter Ulston begins to steepen above a shallow gully. The ditches are probably no more than 3m in breadth and set 8m apart, apparently describing the S arc of a circular enclosure some 60m in internal diameter (2.5ha). The sloping position is typical of a series of forts and fortified settlements across this part of the Scottish Borders.
